Gleaming Decay No.1

2020, The 1st International Symposium on Creative Fine Arts (ISCFA) 2020, Ayuthaya, Thailand

Woven panel with bamboo, polyester yarn and jewel beetle wings.

This artwork is an exploration into the world of materials, forms and meaning.

Previously in my works, the weaving with bamboo strips and one with jewel beetle wings are separated. This artwork is a combination of the techniques and materials that are supporting the same idea and narrative. The texture and colours suggests decay while the material, jewel beetle wings, is derived directly from dead insects.

The insects are naturally dead. They live relatively short life as mature insects, around three months.
